Canada East CrossFit Regionals 2011: Underdog Team CrossFit London Finishes 4th

Written by: Jennifer Broxterman

As a follow-up to our earlier post 2011 CrossFit Games: Canada East Regional Day 2 Midday Report, here’s the outcome from the 2011 Canada East CrossFit Regionals that NutritionRx owner Jennifer Broxterman competed in.

A big congratulations to our CrossFit London athletes who competed at the 2011 Canada East CrossFit Regionals in Toronto, Ontario earlier this month to finish solidly in 4th place out of 21 teams, despite nagging injuries, a stress fractured rib, and a serious car accident one week prior to Regionals.  See the CrossFit Games coverage on Merritt’s car accident here: http://games.crossfit.com/features/crossfit-london-overcomes-car-accident

Team CrossFit London consisted of:
Men: Andrew Stevens, Matt Peebles, and Clark Teeple, with spare Sean Sinclair
Women: Jacquie Edwards, Jennifer Broxterman, Merritt Lymburner (side-lined due to her car accident), and spare Melissa Faichuck, who stepped in and completed the first WOD of the weekend, but had to later pull out of the competition due to her rib injury.

Let’s review how the weekend of June 3-5, 2011 went.  Friday morning started out with an early drive from London to the Mastercard Centre in Etibocoke, ON where the 2011 Canada East CrossFit Regionals were being held.  After registering as a team and getting hooked up with our sweet new CrossFit London t-shirts, we were ready to compete!

A big thanks to CrossFit London head coach Dave Henry for his killer programming that had us well-prepared for the competition, Alex Williams for helping to create and organize our awesome t-shirts, and all of our CrossFit London fans and supporters who came to watch us compete in Toronto and/or followed along online and cheered for us all weekend long!  I would also like to thank Paul McIntyre of CrossFit Colosseum for all of his hard work in organizing and facilitating the 2011 Canada East CrossFit Regionals, and the numerous volunteers, judges, medical staff, and other helpers who made such a great weekend possible.  Although we just missed out on clenching one of the top 2 spots to continue on to the CrossFit Games in California, we are proud of our performance as a team and look forward to competing again next year.
