About Jen:
Jennifer Broxterman is the founder and lead Registered Dietitian at NutritionRx, which she opened in 2010. Her approach encourages people to build a happy and healthy relationship with food through habits-based behaviour change, mindset shifts, and creating supportive environments. Over the years she’s worked with thousands of people, ranging from everyday folks to NHL hockey players and Olympic athletes, supporting their healthy eating and performance goals.
Beyond NutritionRx:
Jennifer has worked as a Foods and Nutrition university professor at Western University, winning the esteemed Excellence in Teaching Award. She’s also a researcher and nutrition content writer for Precision Nutrition, and the course creator and head instructor for PRO$PER Nutrition Certification. She brings her athletic background as a dual varsity athlete (hockey and rowing), along with her experience of being a 4x national level CrossFit athlete. She also loves training for HYROX races, and spending time in nature hiking.
Jen’s Cancer Story:
At age 34, Jen was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Despite being given less than a 8% chance of living past 5 years, within a few months of her cancer removal surgery she achieved radical remission and is still cancer-free to this day! Asha
AshaNutritionRx Therapy Dog
About Asha:
Asha is our beloved black lab and the unofficial therapy dog at NutritionRx. Her name means Alive and Well, making her the perfect mascot after Jennifer Broxterman survived stage 3 ovarian cancer against the odds.
Although NutritionRx is now a virtual practice, Asha still loves being part of the team. Don’t be surprised if she pops on screen to say hello and offer a few enthusiastic tail wags. While she may not be an official therapy dog (just don’t tell her that!), she has a special talent for making people smile.
When she’s not “working,” Asha loves long hikes, chewing sticks, snuggling with her favourite humans, and greeting everyone she meets with kisses. As far as Asha is concerned, everyone is her friend!
She also loves having her paw held and will happily sit beside you “holding hands” for hours.
