About Jen:

Jennifer Broxterman is the founder and head Registered Dietitian at NutritionRx, which she opened in 2010. Her approach encourages people to build a happy and healthy relationship with food through habits-based behaviour change, mindset shifts, and creating supportive environments. With so much client success and incoming referrals, she’s grown her team to bring on more like-minded RDs. Over the years she’s worked with thousands of people, ranging from everyday folks to NHL hockey players and Olympic athletes, supporting their healthy eating and performance goals.

Beyond NutritionRx:

Jennifer has worked as a Foods and Nutrition university professor at Western University (Brescia campus), winning the esteemed Excellence in Teaching Award. She’s also a researcher and nutrition content writer for Precision Nutrition, and the course creator and head instructor for PRO$PER Nutrition Certification. She brings her athletic background as a dual varsity athlete (hockey and rowing), along with her experience of being a 4x national level CrossFit athlete.

Jen’s Cancer Story:

At age 34, Jen was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Despite being given less than a 9% chance of living past 5 years, within a few months of her cancer removal surgery she achieved RADICAL REMISSION and is still cancer-free to this day! Jen is one of the most positive, hard working, and resilient people you’ll ever meet, and is grateful that she’s still here to keep sharing her passion for healthy living with others.

Asha

Our Unofficial Office 'Therapy Dog'

About Asha:

Asha is a black lab and is the unofficial ‘therapy dog’ on our NutritionRx team.

Asha’s name translates to “Alive and Well”, and she became Jennifer Broxterman’s dog and clinic mascot after Jennifer survived stage 3 ovarian cancer and was given less than an 8% chance to live – indeed an “Alive and Well” miracle!

Asha loves swimming, chasing balls and sticks, snuggling with her favourite humans, and offering kisses and tail wags to new clients.

She also loves her hand to be held, err… her paw, and will sit with you holding hands for hours!

As a dog-friendly office, Asha hangs out at NutritionRx whenever Jennifer is around. Although Asha may not be an official service dog, she has embraced her role as a ‘therapy dog’ with her whole heart and will give you abundant love and support as you work hard to accomplish your nutrition goals. She usually sleeps in the corner of the NutritionRx office on her bed during client sessions. If you have an allergy or fear of dogs, please alert our team prior to your initial assessment and arrangements can be made to have Asha stay at home.
